About Shaquana
“I don't plan a piece so much as listen for it. Colour arrives before the image, and the image before the meaning.”
Shaquana is a Georgetown-based artist working across surrealism, abstraction, and textiles. Her practice moves between canvas, paper, and cloth, each collection a different way of turning feeling into something you can live with.
The process
Every work begins without a sketch. She follows colour and gesture until the form arrives, which is what keeps each piece one of a kind.
The influences
Dreams, Guyanese light, textile, and folklore. Surreal imagery, abstract feeling, and woven texture run through the collections.
